9 a.m. to 3 p.m.Rain or Shine
Our Friend Hadiya Williams aka Zuly Gupsy will be vending that day. Lovely finds are sure to be found at her booth……
The Fenton Street Market 2011 season runs Saturdays from April 30 through November 12, with two special Preview shows preceeding (April 9 and 16) and a special Holiday Market following (November 26-December 17). The Fenton Street Market team includes director Hannah McCann; manager Debbie Lee, the dynamo behind Silver Spring’s own Rock-n-Romp and Handmade Mart; assistant manager Jessica Blaszczak, the beloved organizer of the Ballston Arts & Crafts Market; and on-site manager Mike O’Brien, a.k.a. the ”creative dude” at Red Table Press, one of the most popular booths at the market. Six local teenagers dilligently arrive every Saturday at 6 a.m. to help as porters.
In 2011, the Fenton Street Market is incorporating as one of the nation’s first Benefit Corporations, a hybrid for-/non-profit business model for social entrepreneurs (Maryland is the first state to adopt it into law, thanks to Takoma Park-based Senator Jamie Raskin). The Fenton Street Market’s B-Corp charter makes it different from other markets. Key to the market’s mission is to invigorate the local economy with locally based, independent business and arts. Also key is providing a welcoming atmosphere that encourages first-time exhibitors to participate. Join us at the Fenton Street Market.

Frugal Fashionista Clothing Swap and Potluck/August Event:
Welcome to a whole new way of shopping… Swap – Don’t shop -for all the clothing, shoes and accessories you can take home!
Please bring at least 5 items to add to our tables.
Swap from 1PM – 3PM Please come on time;)
Make sure clothing is clean, in season, no stains, no holes, rips or tears and no broken buttons or zippers. If you would be PROUD to pass it on to your girlfriends, than you should bring it. Please do not bring undergarments. We have allowed bras in the past but we are not accespting them anymore as the shelter does not accept them. We’re looking for fall items for this swap. Keep all of your summer clothing at home please. If you should find something unswapple on any of the tables, please remove it and place in our crafter’s bucket. Nothing should go to waste and no one should be disappointed because it’s everyone’s jobs to police the tables for non-wearables;)
If you are bringing guests, please ensure to add them to your RSVP.
This is a potluck swap so please bring a yummy dish for all to share. Please refrain from bringing chips and junk food. We are looking for more meals rather than sweets. Try to use disposable trays for your food as it’s nearly impossible to keep track of who’s who’s. 🙂 I will supply the drinks and dianna will be supplying the plates, napkins and silver ware. The event is free so it shouldn’t be much trouble to ask for a side dish – Please ensure you actually bring something. Alot of folks came in empty handed at the last swap. Not cool.
Last, but not least, bring your swaptastik attitude and plan to come and have a blast!
Please take pictures of yourselves with your swap finds and post it on meetup and facebook! We’d love to see what you all have found!
